Johnny Marr says "record label politics" are to blame for Smiths fans not getting a slew of rarities from the iconic British rockers.
The guitarist tells "NME" he found plenty of unreleased instrumentals and alternate mixes while he was putting together the career-spanning Smiths complete box set, which came out in 2011. Marr wanted to put all the extras out properly, but he claims "someone, somewhere didn't want it out."
He adds that as a fan of the Smiths music, he wanted the project to be done right, but the politics eventually forced him to stop trying.
