Town Spending $20K On Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Manhole Covers

DW: This is what happens when us dorks grown up. NERDS UNITE!!!

Massachusetts manhole covers are getting the Turtle treatment. Four of the manhole covers in Northampton, Massachusetts are going to pay homage to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In an effort to spruce up the city, the town’s Vibrance Committee is giving $20,000 to support the design and manufacture of four custom covers.

These covers landing in that city isn’t just a coincidence either. Northampton was the original home of Mirage Studios, which happened to create the original foursome’s comic book series. Since 1984, the TMNT franchise has covered, graphic novels, cartoons, toys, and even six movies with the latest one, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”, coming to theaters on August 4th.
