System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian has commented on the United States' possible use of military strikes to punish the government of Syria for allegedly using chemical weapons to kill more than 1,400 of its own people. President Barack Obama announced over the weekend that he will seek approval from Congress for action against Bashir Assad's government. Writing at his Facebook page, Tankian said, "I'm really concerned about the 'evidence' against the Syrian regime's use of chemical weapons as an excuse for intervention."
Tankian added, "Remember the 'slam dunk' evidence against Iraq? Why would Assad use chemical weapons when he has the lead and in his own neighborhood? Doesn't make any sense to me. Would it be a fair notion to assume that Al Qaeda or Al Nusra Front would do this to get the West involved?"
